Paint job…

Saw this is an in-flight magazine this summer and it made me laugh big belly laughs so much the whole of the flight, and the man next to me thought there was something wrong with me I’m sure. Even looking at it now gives me the giggles!

…soooo funny!

I read this recently…It made me laugh so much I thought I’d share it with you:

“A cleaning woman at a German museum who mistook a sculpture for an unsightly mess has destroyed the valuable artwork beyond recognition.

The cleaner at the city’s Ostwall Museum went to work on the Martin Kippenberger installation entitled “When It Starts Dripping From the Ceiling” which was valued by insurers at 800,000 euros ($1.1 million).

The late contemporary master had created a tower of wooden slats under which a rubber trough was placed with a thin beige layer of paint representing dried rain water.

Taking it for an actual stain, the cleaner scrubbed the surface until it gleamed.

“It is now impossible to return it to its original state,” the spokeswoman said, adding that the damage had been discovered late last month and that the work had been on loan to the museum from a private collector.

Works of art not infrequently fall victim to zealous cleaners. In 1986, a “grease stain” by Joseph Beuys valued at around 400,000 euros was mopped away at the Academy of Fine Arts in Duesseldorf, western Germany.”

Just returned from Art in the Gardens…what a fantastic show! And my prediction of Hot and Sunny weather was almost correct!! We did have hot and sunny on the Saturday, but Sunday was a little wet at times (although my husband kept on saying it was only sea mist!!)

Here’s some photos, the good photos …the nice one taken by Adrian Richardson! Thank you Adrian.

I will put more on when I figure out how to!!! PS I’ve just found my old school report from 1070…watch this space!
